In this workshop I would like to both share and explore with participants, my own
experiences
experiences
and perspectives on working with clients who seek help and support with issues
around stress, both past and present, and the effects with which they are
physically suffering from.
around stress, both past and present, and the effects with which they are
physically suffering from.
My hope is that this exploration will result
in an in depth understanding of the various aspects of stress, and why it is
that looking at the Organism as a whole…both psychologically AND
physically, can lead to healing for the client.

By the use of case study discussion/exercise and role play, participants will
encouraged to examine various aspects of stress: types/manifestations of
stress; mental and physical health; ‘carer’ stress; ‘addiction’ to
stress; how to support clients; support for the therapist.

It was when I began working as a Team Facilitator at a Hospice, where I supported
a team of Nurses, Doctors and Carers that I began to be interested the relational and psychological connection of
palliative care staff, who are caring for patients who are suffering with
terminal illness. It has become a passion of mine to continue
what I consider to be a ‘journey’ of the human spirit in responding to
therapeutic relationships, in the face of a diagnosis of terminal disease.

I continue, and follow this passion through with my research and commitment to
understanding how the body responds to stress….both psychologically and
physically, including the possible connection between stress and some cancers
and some chronic illnesses.
